I have left notes in peanut butter sandwiches, tucked at the bottom of frozen yogurts and dangling from the string of a helium balloon. Thank you for seeing me in seeing your dad. I just love you, that is all.

The Book of Common Prayer. It is common for me to pray once again. Though I will admit I had to go through a time of sanitizing to get back to prayers. For a time prayers in church were a little too ... churchy. While I was there I asked questions like "How come my gay friends aren't so welcome here?" (I was a theatre major) I hung out in homeless shelters because I read a lot of Dorothy Day.

So I like Noble's combination. It feels like a good choice, though maybe not for the reasons he chose. We all see our altars in different spaces, but we are all common, right? And we have FAR more in common than we do apart.

Thank you for sharing.

I have always been a seeker of higher voices in my life - and look to mentors and authors to help inspire me to live bigger. Sometimes, though, the higher voices in our lives are right in front of us - in parents and grandparents. You are so incredibly blessed to recognize that in Noble. Love and prayers to you.

"Forgiving. Of aides who scrubbed him so hard, 'I lost some skin off my tail. I guess they’re doing the best they can.'"

Beautiful wisdom delivered with humor... I imagine the good that this attitude could do if it were roaming free in all of us. Gorgeous post, Martha.

Oh my goodness you made me laugh, Nona! It was my first car date - and all the way to San Angelo. My mother was a hot mess. As I recall, Bret opened the car door for me at the resturant and I failed to pull my hand out before he closed it. I sat with my hand in ice water through dinner and had to go home early. I was a wreck. And I bet he was, too, as I'm sure my mother not so subtly threatened him if anything happened to her baby. :)

I sure do appreciate your, note. Blessings and love to you and yours, too, Nona.

I have 14!!!! My mom had a stash to. She used to give them to me as 'mad money' so if I was on a date and got mad at the boy, I would have money to call her. Not that I could put the $2 bill in the pay phone... Ha. :)
